Two years after the birth of my first daughter I discovered a lump in my right breast through self-examination. My doctor advised me to have it biopsied. I was twenty-eight-years-old at that time. Thankfully, the result was benign.

Five years later, after the birth of my second daughter, I discovered that once again I had a lump in my left breast. This time, the lump was the size of a grape. My doctor requested that I have a mammogram and biopsy done. It was then that I learned I had stage 2 breast cancer. I was just 33-years-old. At the time, I thought it was a death sentence. With much prayers and support from my family, friends, boss, coworkers, church family and members of the Sister Sister Breast Cancer Support Group, my spirit was lifted and my strength was renewed. I was then able to go through my left breast mastectomy. Three weeks after my surgery I had six cycles of chemotherapy. Five years after that I had reconstructive surgery. Today I am a 19-year survivor. To God be the glory!
